This Galician journalist captured what winter (frequently) causes in forests of ashes: thick, blackish mud takes over and the ground gets dirty. The tweet says: "this is what happens when it rains over a burned down hill. Water drags the ashes and it becomes a stony wasteland. Ecologic horror".

Dozens, maybe hundreds of animals die every year during fires. If they make it, they become homeless.
There isn't a counting going on for them, but they were there in the first place.
