Cleaning works were assumed by city halls and associations (mainly ecologists). Later on, Galician Government (Xunta de Galicia) took charge of it through the public company Tragsa.

The success of the campaign became an object of discrepancy, but the efforts volunteers, sailors and the Administration made opened the way to a clear sea the following summer.
