CONSEQUENCES
THEY WERE THERE, TOO
More than 90 species of birds had to be rescued from the black, muddy waters. The commom murre was the most damaged species.
As for marine animals, there was no way to quantify Prestige's impact on them. Instead, stranded ones were counted. Most of them had strains of fuel.

He's Apostolos Mangouras, the captain of the Prestige. The trial for the catastrophe started on October 16th, 2012, 10 years after the events.
Mangouras was accused of disobeying the authorities and ignoring the weather warnings, which "compromised the security of the ship, obstructed the operations of maritime rescue and caused the spill of fuel".
His mistake was being three hours late for accepting the towing works in the ship, when the Prestige was in obvious danger. The judge ruled two years of prison and a small sanction.
